You may not always have internet access, but you can use a standard touchtone phone–including cellphones–to get NextBus arrival information for your stop on many transit systems.

For example, in the Washington, D.C. area, WMATA  lets you call  202-637-7000 where you can select the “Next Bus” option and enter the stop ID number using the telephone keypad.

If you want the Connecticut & Leland Street stop its ID is #2000105.  To get your arrival time, call the phone number above and at the main menu prompt, say “NextBus.” You will be asked to enter the stop ID in the key pad. Once entered, you will hear the next arrival times for your desired stop.

You can find the stop ID when you are at your actual bus stop on the posted NextBus sign.

But, if you are checking remotely, you will need to save the stop ID in advance. You can find it on the NextBus website when you select your route or stop.
